I got a laptop with Windows 10 a few months back. I decided to reset Windows 10 as I was having some problems with speed, browsers crashing, etc. Since I’ve reset it though, the screen resolution is tiny and it won’t let me change it. It’s stuck on setting 1. I know this question has been asked before, but I’ve now spent hours trying to resolve it using previous threads – made sure I’ve got all the Windows 10 updates, tried updating the driver, etc.

I also went onto the laptop manufacturer’s website and got their latest driver for Windows 10, but still no joy. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for replying. That was the only solution I couldn’t work through.

Can you tell me where do I locate the driver set up file? I’d gone into the Device Manager but couldn’t see anything for compatibility mode in there. For the setup file, you would have to visit your manufacturer’ website.

For eg: If it is Dell, go the dell website and download the drivers. Install it in compatibility mode later. I have tried this method. But while installing, it says “NVidia graphics driver is not compatible with this version of windows”. I am using Windows 10 and I have selected Windows 8 in compatibility.

Have you also try to install the drivers in compatible mode and check? Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists. Under Resolution, select a new value. If you see this message, select Sign out now.

Note: If your resolution was fine and recently changed things appear huge, for example , your graphics driver might need to be updated. Run Windows Update to get the latest driver.

The main cause of this issue seems to be incompatible or outdated Display Drivers which seems to conflict with Windows and hence creating the problem.

Make sure to create a restore point just in case something goes wrong. Finally, select the compatible driver from the list for your Nvidia Graphic Card and click Next. Let the above process finish and restart your PC to save changes. If there were not update found, then again right click on your Display adapter and select Update Driver Software. First of all, you should know what graphics hardware you have i. Now go to the Nvidia driver download website and enter the product details which we just find out.

After successful download, install the driver and you have successfully updated your Nvidia drivers manually. This installation will take some time but you will have successfully updated your driver after that. Again right-click on the setup file and click Run as administrator then continue with the installation. Under Resolution, select a new value.
